The Church of God Was Damaged by the Earthquake in New Zealand

Passover

[False Claim]

In the aftermath of the earthquake which hit New Zealand on February 22, 2011, a part of the church building in Christchurch was damaged. The Church of God says that those who keep the Passover can escape disasters. Then, why was the church building damaged?

[Countermeasure]

1. Why don’t they pay attention to the words of the Bible?

It is the promise of God and the teachings of the Bible that disasters pass over us when we keep the Passover. If they want to oppose the Passover, let them refute it by using the Bible. They do not prove themselves by using the words of the Bible, but just play upon words, which is meaningless. No matter what they slander, the Bible teaches that disasters pass over us when we have the blood of the Passover lamb (Ex 12:11-13), and Jesus is the reality of the Passover lamb (1 Co 5:7); these facts are immutable. Therefore, we must realize that disasters will pass over us when we keep the Passover of the new covenant, and that is the promise of God which will be fulfilled for sure.

2. Is the promise of the Passover about buildings?

They try to distort the teachings of the Bible that disasters will pass over us when we keep the Passover. They are playing with words. When we keep the Passover, do the disasters pass over us or buildings?

  • Ex 12:13 “The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”

Whom is the sign of the Passover for? Whom do the disasters pass over? Whom do the disasters avoid? God did not promise the protection for buildings, but for the saints, God’s people. This is so simple that even a child can understand it. Nevertheless, they try to deny the truth of the Passover by saying that it refers to the church building. It is truly infantile and absurd. In addition, the Bible also prophesied that the land will be utterly devastated. This means that all the buildings of the earth will be destroyed by the last plagues. The promise of God was not meant for buildings.

  • Isa 24:1-3, 19 See, the LORD is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it; he will ruin its face . . . The earth will be completely laid waste and totally plundered . . . The earth is broken up, the earth is split asunder, the earth is thoroughly shaken.

Now, let’s think of the earthquake which hit Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2011. According to the news report, 180 people died due to the earthquake. Was a member of the Church of God killed by the earthquake? They make no mention of it because no one in the Church of God was harmed from it.

The unchangeable promise of God that He will save His “saints” from disasters was fulfilled.

3. The Passover enables us to escape from the last disaster

The reason God let us keep the Passover, which has not been kept for 1,600 years, is that the last disaster, which is unavoidable with the efforts of man, is coming (Am 9:2). The Bible prophesies that God will put His seal on His people before the last plagues fall upon the world, thereby save them from it.

  • Rev 7:1~3 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”

Why does God put His seal on His people? It is because the “four winds of the earth which will harm [destroy] the land and the sea,” that is, the last plagues will be blown in the near future. To save His people from the last disaster, God puts His seal on them. Therefore, the seal of God is the sign which enables us to escape from the last disaster.

Then, how can we have the seal of God? We can have it through the New Covenant Passover (For more information, refer to “The Mystery of God and the Spring of the Water of Life,” Ch. 33). Just as the blood of the Passover lamb became a sign and the disasters passed over people in the times of the Exodus, the blood of Jesus, the Passover lamb, will become a sign [the seal of God] and we will be able to escape from the last disaster. This is why the prophets tell us to flee to Zion, where God’s feasts are celebrated, to escape from disasters (Jer 4:5; Isa 33:20; Mic 4:2; Rev 14:1). They prophesy that those who keep God’s regulations will be sheltered on the day of God’s anger (Zep 1:3; 2:1-3). By prophesying that the world will be destroyed because people have broken the everlasting covenant, they also foretell us that those who keep the New Covenant Passover, the everlasting covenant, will be saved (Isa 24:1-5).

The main purpose of preaching the New Covenant Passover to people is that they can escape the last plague that will afflict the world and enter the kingdom of heaven (Lk 21:35; 2 Pe 3:6-13). This is not just to be saved from minor, local disasters. (Of course, all disasters wreak havoc on the inhabitants in those regions, but it is small when considered with the last great worldwide disaster). The reason we tell people that God saved His people from minor disasters is because God allows us to witness those things prior to the last disasters, so that we can believe the testimony of the Bible with conviction. For those who firmly believe the promise of God that we will be saved from the last disaster when we keep the Passover, God allows them to experience it beforehand.

4. Reality of the earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand

The slanderers explain as if only the Church of God was damaged by the earthquake. They fail to mention the numerous news reports about all the damage that also occurred in Christchurch, New Zealand. This clearly reflects their prejudicial viewpoint.

New Zealand’s earthquake history

Feb. 3, 1931 A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Hawke’s Bay;256 people were killed.
Aug. 2, 1942 A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Wairarapa;one person was killed.
May 24, 1968 A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Inangahua;three people were killed, and buildings were destroyed.
Mar. 2, 1987 A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Edgecumbe;half of all houses were destroyed.
Jul. 15, 2009 A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Edgecumbe;half of all houses were destroyed.
Sep. 4, 2010 A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Edgecumbe;half of all houses were destroyed.
Feb. 22, 2011 A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Christchurch;181 people were killed.

Since 1931, the recent earthquake caused the most severe damage in 80 years; therefore, the government of New Zealand declared a national state of emergency. In one of the greatest disasters in the history of New Zealand, not a single victim was among the members of the Church of God; it only damaged a part of the building, which was also unnecessary, being separate from the main building. It took only three hours to remove the debris. Just by looking at the map below, we can see that the area, where the Church of God is located, suffered great damage. We can clearly see where God bestows His grace of salvation.

Among the churches that were damaged, three of them―Richmond Methodist Church, Crossway Community Church, and Knox Presbyterian Church―were brick constructions similar to the Church of God. What is their current status? No traces of the original church buildings remained, and even human casualties were recorded. However, the Church of God remained in relatively good status; its members were not harmed, and services have been held normally.

In order to give you a better understanding, we will explain in more detail about the Church of God building that was somewhat damaged from the earthquake. The Church building was very old and the city office had already classified it as dangerous and was designated as “Earthquake Prone.” According to the City Ordinance, the Church of God had to do reinforcement work for seismic design. In addition, the bell tower damaged from the earthquake was extremely old; it had already corroded and leaked water, and even the mortar that bonded the bricks had oozed out.

Therefore, when the engineer did an inspection for reinforcement work in late 2010, he made a diagnosis that the bell tower was in such bad condition so that it had to be torn down and newly built. When the earthquake caused damage to the tower, it was not strange at all.

Misfortune turned to blessing

Actually, the earthquake helped us carry out the reinforcement work that we had to do for the old building. To follow the City Ordinance, we had to do the work obligatorily, but we were able to cut the cost due to compensation we received for earthquake damages. Furthermore, as the building was no longer designated as “Earthquake Prone,” the value of the building increased after construction.

We briefly explained the overall situation, but readers can certainly feel that God helped and protected the Church of God. Here, we cannot ignore the matter, “Who took the picture of the Church of God building, secretly? What is his purpose?” He behaved shamefully in order to slander the Church of God. At that time, the earthquake in New Zealand was such a great disaster that befell in about 100 years. By referring to the pictures below, you can see the devastating aftermath of the earthquake. Please keep in mind that God promised to save us from those great disasters through the Passover the new covenant.

Those who don’t know about the bible, insist like this.
However if those who believe in God insist like that, they same as those who don’t know the bible.
We must know the God’s will, so we can receive the salvation of our soul.

It’s painful to see people who suffered from the earthquake in New Zealand.

If they had kept the New Covenant Passover, they wouldn’t have get any damage from the disaster.
We must preach the Passover whatever slanderers say and do for more people’s salvation just as Christ Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother did with earnest desire for everyone to be saved.

This is incredible. God said “I will Passover YOU” .. not the house or building we dwell in. I’ve learned that the truth is always questions with weak and unsupported arguments which can be defeated with God’s breath. Our Father Christ Ahnsahnghong has given us the true promise of the Seal of God. I will continue proclaiming the Passover and the salvation of our God!

God’s seal is for God’s people and it is clearly prophesied in the bible.

WMSCOG delivers the promise of the Passover of the New Covenant all over the world!!
The promise of the Passover is for our salvation, not for another.
Everyone wants to be saved, in other words, to receive eternal life.
Jn 6:54[ Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.]
Mt 26:17~28 ===>> The Passover bread = Jesus’ flesh, The Passover wine = Jesus’ blood
So, it is clear that the Passover was given for our salvation, not for building.

Why would Jesus Keep the Passover before He crucified on the cross?
This is because the Passover is the only way we can get the salvation and be protected from all disasters.
It is not just some part of Jewish history but the amazing living truth for all men living on this earth.

Since there are so many disasters happening right now, we should listen to God’s word without interpreting it by ourselves.

I feel so sorry that so many people got hurt and injured because of that terrible disasters.
We do now know when that kind of thing will happen to us, so we should be careful really.
But HOW??? We can not get the salvation by hiding under the water or above the sky, as written in the Bible.
That means, there is no safe place on the earth, but Zion where God’s feasts are celebrated by God people.
Among God’s feasts, there is very important one, the PASSOVER.
Rather than slandering God’s words, I hope all men try to keep the PASSOVER so they can get the eternal life and to be saved!

What if Christ Ahnsahnghong had not restored and given the Passover back to us, how are we going to have a hope to go back to Kingdom of heaven? Heaven is not the place where we can enter with our own ways, but only through the Passover, we can come in. Passover is the only way we can get the eternal life with the bread and the wine, which represents the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ.
I thank Elohim God for opening the way for us to go back to our hometown by keeping the PASSOVER! 🙂
