Some people insist that the seal of God in Revelation Chapter 7 does not represent the Passover. They also argue that the seal of God is not the Passover, but the Holy Spirit, quoting the following verses:
- 2 Cor. 1:21「Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.」
- Eph. 1:13「And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, Having believed,?you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,」
Throughout the ages, God has put His seal on whatever God deemed worthy. The Bible not only states that there is the seal of apostleship (1 Cor. 9:2) and the seal of righteousness (Rom. 4:11), but has put in hearts the Holy Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. (2 Cor. 1:22, Eph. 1:13)
- 1 Cor. 9:2「Even though I may not be an apostle to others, surely I am to you! For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.」
- Rom 4:11「And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still circumcised.」
However, “the Seal of God” in Revelation Chapter 7 refers to the Seal that will be put on God’s people right before the last disaster comes upon them. This is the very sign of salvation with which we enter the kingdom of Heaven and escape from the last disasters. All destructive plagues had passed over those who painted the blood of lambs on the sides and tops of doorframes of the houses in Egypt. In the same way, only through the blood of Christ, who is the reality of Passover lamb, can we receive salvation at the last judgment.
