The Worldwide Church of God Kept the Passover Before the Church of God?-2

World Mission Society Church of God

[False Claim]

The Church of God claims that Christ Ahnsahnghong is Jesus who came a second time because He restored the Passover. However, the Worldwide Church of God, which was established by Herbert W. Armstrong in the late 1930s, keeps all the festivals of the Old Testament as well as the Passover. Therefore, if we follow the logic of the Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong should be the Second Coming Jesus, not Ahnsahnghong.

[Countermeasure]

2. How can a man, who believed the sunset theory, restore God’s feasts?

If Armstrong had truly restored God’s feasts, he must have known when the beginning of a day is. However, Armstrong did not go beyond the frame of common sense shared by the people of the world, but he held the sunset theory to be true and explained all the ceremonies of the Passover in the book of Exodus and the four books of the Gospel, on the basis of the sunset theory.

For example, Armstrong contended that Jesus kept the Passover on the night of the 14th?day of the first month, and died on the cross on the following afternoon of the 14th day. However, the Bible testifies that the time Jesus and His disciples prepared the Passover was during?the daytime of the 14th day. The specific time when the disciples talked with Jesus to prepare the Passover was the daytime before the sunset (Mt 26:20), and Matthew, Mark and Luke all testified that it was the time “to sacrifice the Passover lamb.”

  • Mt 26:17 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked . . .

?

  • Mk 14:12 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples asked him . . .

?

  • Lk 22:7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.

Then when is the date to sacrifice the Passover lamb in the Bible? It is the 14th day of the first month.

  • 2 Ch 35:1 . . . the Passover lamb was slaughtered on the fourteenth day of the first month.

Therefore, the time when the disciples prepared the Passover was the daytime of the 14th day. According to the sunset theory, the time should be the daytime on the 13th day, but the Bible testifies that it is the 14th day. So the daytime when Jesus died on the cross and which comes after the Passover is not the 14th day, but the 15th day. Therefore, the argument of Armstrong that Jesus was crucified in the afternoon of the 14th day according to the sunset theory is wrong against the testimony of the Bible. How could that kind of man restore God’s feasts?

Exactly. How can he be the second coming Christ; God, if he does not agree with God’s creation? There are many errors in the sunset theory that is obvious to us. It is one of the basics of knowledge that people must have if they believe in God’s creation. If he is God, he must know the true meaning of creation. Armstrong knows nothing about the Bible. He cannot be God.

Most important truth in the bible is the new covenant Passover that give us eternal life.
The sunset theory is some contradiction to explain the time of Passover like above contents.
God’s prophecies completely accomplish without fail . So we can easy understand the time of Passover by the sunrise theory.

The Bible emphasize Jesus Christ kept the Passover on the night of 14th day
And the Lamb must be slaughtered at night according to the Bible
If it is not, no matter
We have to listen the word of second coming Jesus
    That is point

The Passover that Christ Ahnsahnghong restores is the exactly same with the one Jesus had kept 2,000 years ago, but the one Armstrong kept is different.

According to the theory of Armstrong, there is full of contradictions about the date of the Passover. Sunset theory makes the prophecies of the bible false. Then, Can Armstrong be God? (NO!!!) Armstrong can not be God.

I don’t believe the Passover Armstrong kept is the one Jesus established 2,000 years ago; therefore, it should not have God’s promise and blessings in there.

So, Jesus was not crux on the day of PO. How could he have fulfilled the OT lamb when he was slaughtered the next day? The WMSCOG says everything aligns perfectly but that does not.

Hi Renita, here is an answer for your question by Christ Ahnsahnghong in His truth book.
It is all because you do not know about the regulation of the New covenant. Let’s see Father Ahnsahnghong’s answer:

[The Law of Moses & the Law of Christ, Chapter 3 “The Regulations of the New Covenant”]
They also insist that it was on the day of the Passover that Jesus was hung on the cross, saying that He must be crucified on the day when the Passover lamb was to be sacrificed because He was the Passover Lamb.

Such an interpretation shows that they know neither the feasts related to Jesus’ administration of redemption nor the prophecies fulfilled by Jesus, who is the reality of the sacrifices. In the light of prophetic fulfillment, the atonement offering is greater than the Passover lamb. The atonement offering was to be sacrificed on the tenth day of the seventh month of the sacred year (cf. Heb 13:11-12; Lev 16:27-34). Then, since Jesus became the atonement offering, too, He should have been sacrificed on the cross even on the Day of Atonement, the tenth day of the seventh month, shouldn’t He?

Actually, Jesus became all the sacrifices of the feasts; He became the regular burnt offering each day (Ex 29:38-39), the lamb offered on the Sabbath day (Nu 28:9-10), the Passover lamb (1 Co 5:7-8) and the atonement offering. For the fulfillment of the prophecy, Jesus must be sacrificed on the fifteenth day of the first month of the sacred year.

The Passover was the greatest festival of the Jews, and they didn’t hand criminals over to be crucified on the Passover. In the Apostolic age, when the Apostle Peter was kept in prison, the Passover came and they waited until it was over. It was on the Passover night that an angel of the Lord rescued Peter from prison (Ac 12:1-10). But the Feast of Unleavened Bread, beginning on the fifteenth day of the first month of the sacred year, was the day on which the Israelites left Egypt (Nu 33:3) while the Egyptians buried their firstborns (Nu 33:4). So, it was customary for the Jews to crucify criminals on this day. By bearing a curse on the cross, Jesus redeemed us
from the curse. As it is written:

Gal 3:13 『Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”』(cf. Dt 21:22-23)

If we carefully study many verses in the Bible, we come to understand that Jesus was crucified on the day of Unleavened Bread, the day after the Passover. Therefore, it was on the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight, when the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed, that Jesus ate the last Passover.

      Thank you.
