Since There Are Cases Where “Elohim” Indicates a Single Being, Heavenly Mother Does Not Exist?

wmscog

[False Claim]

There are cases where the Hebrew word “elohim” was used to indicate a single being. According to the Bible, the word “elohim” was referred to as one person, Moses or one image of calf. And it was also used to indicate one pagan god (like Ashtoreth, Chemosh or Molech). Therefore, we conclude that Elohim the Creator cannot be plural and that there is no Heavenly Mother.

  • Ex 7:1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God [Elohim] to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.”
  • Ne 9:18 “. . . even when they cast for themselves an image of a calf and said, ‘This is your god [elohim], who brought you up out of Egypt’ . . .”
  • 1 Ki 11:33  “. . . because they have forsaken me and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess [elohim] of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god [elohim] of the Moabites, and Molech the god [elohim] of the Ammonites . . .

[Countermeasure]

1. “Elohim” who said, “Let us make man”

Has the Church of God taught that the word “elohim” means God the Father and God the Mother simply because of the word itself? No! Those who oppose the truth omit the most important evidence with a vicious intent. Do you know what that evidence is? The critical evidence through which we cannot help but understand Elohim as God the Father and God the Mother is the words of God who said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness” (Ge 1:26) when God created man. Elohim God, who created all things and human beings, referred to Themselves as “us.” So the word “Elohim” which indicates the Creator, without a doubt means God the Father and God the Mother as a plural meaning.

This is a definite and undeniable fact no matter how the term, “elohim” was used in other verses or in Hebrew words.

2. Distorting the truth

The opposers emphasize only these cases so that people may think that this is the way the whole Bible uses the term “elohim.” But this is a high degree of deception. In any language, one word may have multiple uses. Elohim in Hebrew is the same. In most cases it is used as a plural meaning, but it can be used in the singular meaning as is aforementioned. They use three cases of elohim in the singular meaning for an evil purpose to slander the truth. However, to prove it objectively, they must first reveal how much percentage the case with the singular meaning takes among 2,600 cases of elohim in the Old Testament. And also they have to clearly make known the fact that elohim was used in the plural meaning many more times than in singular meaning.

Total no. of usage

Percentage

Meaning

About 2,600 times

About 90 %

God the Creator

About 10 %

Mostly plural meaning

(Refer to the examples below)

Few singular meaning

(In the cases the opposers says)

In 90% of the cases of the Old Testament, elohim refers to God the Creator whom we believe in, and most of the remaining 10% refers to other gods as a plural meaning. In other words, the number of the cases when “elohim” is used as a plural meaning is more than that of the cases when used as a singular meaning. The examples are as follows:

  • Ex 20:3 “You shall have no other gods [elohim] before me.”
  • Jer 2:28 “Where then are the gods [elohim] you made for yourselves? Let them come if they can save you when you are in trouble! For you have as many gods [elohim] as you have towns, O Judah.”
  • 1 Ki 11:4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods [elohim] . . .

Therefore, the Hebrew dictionary explains that “elohim” is the plural form of “eloah,” and that it means gods. The opposers know this very well. Nevertheless, they emphasize rare cases of elohim’s being used in the singular meaning, and ignore the majority of the cases when referring to plural “Gods.” They intentionally deceive those who do not know the meaning of elohim in Hebrew.

To emphasize it again, it is certain that the term “Elohim,” who is God the Creator, contains plural meaning in it because Elohim God definitely referred to Himself as “us.” What is the identity of those who ignore the words of God despite the fact that God definitely said, “us,” even three times in Genesis 1? Please think about it carefully.

<Supplementary Explanation>

The opposers insist as if the special case when the word “elohim” is used with a singular

meaning proved that “Elohim” in Genesis 1 means singular God. However, the word “elohim” in Ex 7:1 and 1 Ki 11:33 has nothing to do with “Elohim” the Creator in Genesis 1. In other words, they are not the phrases that explain about God the Creator, but records about other gods. Therefore, the verses cannot be the evidence about God the Creator.

And according to Ne 9:18, the people said that a golden calf is their Elohim [God] who brought them up out of Egypt. This is not the testimony of a true prophet, but the foolish words of the Israelites who worshiped the idol and said out of ignorance about Elohim [God]. So, this verse cannot be the testimony that helps us understand the nature of God the Creator, either. What is more, the records in Ex 32:4 where elohim is used in a plural form do not match up with the records in Ne 9:18 where elohim is used in a singular form. Therefore, the words of the Israelites in those days do not convey the exact meaning of Elohim God. In the two verses, the Hebrew “Ele” that means “these” is a plural noun and “Je” that means “this” is a singular noun.

  • Ex 32:4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These [Ele] are your gods [elohim], O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”
  • Ne 9:18 even when they cast for themselves an image of a calf and said, ‘This [Je] is your god [elohim], who brought you up out of Egypt,’ or when they committed awful blasphemies.

Elohim means God’s, Just as the English word “God” does not only refer to the God in the bible but other gods as the sun god moon god elephant god. Elohim also is used the same way. But in Context, when speaking about Creator God in the bible it shows that there is Father and Mother.

These arguments are futile, they seem to be made ignorantly only to hurt our church. I feel sorry for those who actually think that these are arguments.

They are just playing with the words.
The word “elohim” is the plural form of “el” or “eloah” and means “Gods.”
This word itself does not mean “God the Father and God the Mother,’ but “Gods.”
Because God the Father and God the Mother created man in the image of God, the word “Elohim” (Gods) was used. If only God the Father had created man, the plural form would have been used.

First of all, we must know the slander’s purpose why they insist like as elohim is a singular noun.
Even if they are disturbed any sophistry, we should not be deceptive their words.
Elohim God’s teaching is way of life that we must go to heavenly kingdom.

Don’t miss the point of what God said when creating man ; “Let US make man, in OUR image…”

According to words of God the creator, we are copies of God, so thru ourselves[male n female] we can clearly understand that God the creator is not only one. That’s Elohim God[Gods]

Elohim God[Gods] teach us their divinity thru referring themsleves to the words “We” and “Our” in Gen 1:26-27.
Then, what else do we need more to confirm the fact that God the creator is not only God the father but also God the mother?
To let us know the fact that there r two Gods ;God the father n God the mother, Elohim God explain how they created man in the bible.
Specifically, Elohim God created man according to the image of God instead of simply creating with the words of God like “Let there be man”
There r two qualities of man on earth, male n female, then surely there must be two original patterns. which mean one pattern for male is the image of God the father, the other for female is the image of God the mother.

Wow. I guess they truly don’t understand Hebrew that’s why they try to use this argument.
However no matter how crafty Satan is, God will always win.
Let’s not be deceived again as we were in heaven, but let’s always be on Father And Mother’s side forever and ever.

Their insistence doesn’t make sense at all. Elohim in Ge 1:26-27 is God, who has two images: Male and Female. Why do they keep on telling nonsense? It’s so simple and easy to receive God who is God the Father and God the Mother.

I think that they also remember Gal. 4:26!
“But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.”
They may also know that heavenly Jerusalem in Gal. 4:26 is the wife of the Lamb, who gives us the free gift of the water of life along with the Spirit[Rev. 22:17].
These verses also prove the existence of God the Mother.
Considering this fact, their insistence is distorting the truth!

If Jerusalem is not a person but a place, what would be wrong with the prophecy of the book of Galatians chapter 4?
It clearly testifies that Heavenly Jerusalem is our Mother who gave birth to us before the creation of the earth.
We are the chosen people since the beginning of the earth and for our grievous sin, God the Father and God the Mother came down to this earth.
For their unconditional and great love and mercy for this sinful mankind, our thanks should be forever and ever more.

without mother, no living creatures are made as most people know. just like the physical example on the earth, we do have to have a mother of our spirit- our God the Mother. Her coming to this earth has been already planned and we should give all thanks and praise to Her.

See the thing is we don’t just believe in God the Father and God the Mother because of the word Elohim, i believe in God the Mother according to all the prophecies that testify to her. Those who want to fully understand about Heavenly Mother please study and come to see that it is God’s will that we receive our spiritual life from our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother. This is the principle of life.

See just because the bible says Elohim this confirms even more that God the Mother exist. This is not the only reason why we believe in God the Mother. I believe in her because of the prophecies God the Mother fulfills. As I come to study more and more I come to understand the will of God in creating life, it is natural for children to receive life from there Mother, it is no different spiritual. It’s so foolish to insist the word “Elohim” is singular when clearly it refers to more than one Go. So is that supposed to prove that God the Mother doesn’t exist? From the beginning to the end of the bible you can see God the Mother exist.
