I was on the way to return home from my husband’s parents’ after taking care of some urgent work. As it was during the evening rush hour, I was stuck in traffic. It seemed that I would arrive home later than my husband, so I called my children and asked them to clean the rooms. My two sons willingly answered, “Yes!” with spirited voices.
Even after an hour, cars were moving at a turtle’s pace. I called them again.
“Did you do what I asked?”
“Not yet, but we have some time left until father comes. We will do it a little bit later.”
“I think it would be good if you do it in advance.”
As I rushed home and knocked on the door, my children opened it with a surprised look. I became speechless as I went inside. The rooms were a total mess. As their father usually came home late, they postponed cleaning and spent their time playing.
That day, I looked at myself through my children. I repented that I overheard Heavenly Mother’s words, doing what I liked with the thought that I still had much time until Heavenly Father came. Now, I engrave Heavenly Mother’s request deep on my heart and follow it: “Love each other,” “Be considerate and humble,” “Change to resemble God by making efforts to save souls with godly deeds.” Every day, I will prepare myself to meet Father.
